Bro. Willie F. Townsend, known to many as, “Pimp,” was born June 18, 1951 to Velma and to the late Robert Townsend.
He confessed Christ at an age and joined Mt. Mariah Baptist Church, where he served as Assistant Superintendent.
Willie was a graduate of the Choctaw County Training School Class of 1969. He worked for Georgia Pacific for several years until his retirement.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and caring mother, Mrs. Velma Townsend of Yantley, Alabama; six (6) children, Cisley (William Barksdale) of Meridian, Mississippi; Nicole Moen of Dayton, Ohio; Dilisa Townsend and Marlon Person, both of Akron, Ohio; Chante and Shalea Griggs, both of South Carolina; grandchildren, Josiah, Jordan, Brianna, Sidney, Isaiah, Kyjana, Kyshea, Kyares and Jeremiah; five (5) sisters, Catherine (Alfred) Glenn, Lou Anne (Len) Rowe, Flora (Riley) Eddie, Shirley (Caldaro) Eddie, Angela (Timothy) Wiley, all of Yantley, Alabama; nephew, as a dear brother, Gregory Townsend; a devoted companion and friend, Sarah Edwards of Yantley, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews, whom he adored; many close friends, co-workers, and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Townsend; brother, Lonnie Townsend; sister-in-law, Ida M. Townsend, and his grandparents.
