Uriah Keeton Jr Obituary

Uriah Keeton Jr. affectionately known to his family and friends as “Junior” was born on January 5, 1948, in Yantley, Alabama.  He was the oldest of three children.  He was born to the late Uriah Keeton Sr., and Charity Ruth Keeton.  Uriah was the first of three. On January 5, 1948 he began his earthly journey into this world.

He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age.  On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the age of 76 years old, Uriah entered eternal rest and went home to be with the Lord.  Uriah was employed by Avondale Shipyard for 25 years.  He went to retire from Grain Elevator Company.  After retirement he became the neighborhood maintenance man.  Uriah was kind, selfless, and went above and beyond for those he loved and cared for.  His favorite scripture that he use to always tell us to read it out loud 10 times, Psalm 23.  The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:  he leadeth me beside the still waters.  He restoreth my soul:  he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.  He was a Saints fan from when they wore the brown paper bags.  You couldn’t tell him nothing about them Saints, Win or lose. “WHO DAT SAYS THEY GONE BEATH THEM SAINTS”.

Uriah leaves the gift of love, faith, strength, courage and precious memories to his devoted wife Ethel Keeton, two daughters Keon Keeton (Andra), Zandra Ray-Miles (Gregory), one sister Ethel James (Willie), two devoted friends, Johnny Jake Roberts (Deborah) and Linda Williams (Harold).  He was preceded in death by his parents Uriah and Charity Keeton Sr., one brother the late Bobby “PeeWee” Keeton, one daughter the late Trina Marie McLaurin and one son the late Billy Fate Ray Jr.

Uriah cherished his 11 grandchildren, De’Andre, Ja’Kai and Ja’Marque Randall, Brittany, Jaron and Jarod Cooley, Octavia, Elvy, Jared, Destini McLaurin and Latina Minnniefield; 14 great-grandchildren, along with a host of beloved family and friends who were all blessed to know

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
