Tony Slay was born to the late Horace Slay and Josie Slay on July 1, 1959. He is the first-born in a family of four children.
Tony departed this life on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Ochsner-Rush Choctaw General Hospital in Butler, Alabama with his sister at his bedside.
He joined Shiloh C.M.E. Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until his death.
Tony loved going on rides in the car with his family. His second love was playing his keyboard and listening to music. He was nonverbal but found a way to communicate. He was always smiling; his smile was heartfelt to all who knew him.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Horace Slay; his “Big Mommy,” Rosie Graham; his maternal grandparents, T.J and Betty Graham; his paternal grandparents, Sarah Woodard and Jim Slay; five aunts and five uncles.
Tony leaves to cherish his memories: mother, Josie Slay of Lisman, AL; one sister, Sonji Culler (Martin) Clermont, Florida; two brothers, Horace Slay (Valarie) of Lisman, Alabama; Leon Slay (Anna) of Bronx, New York; three nieces, Melissa Slay, Kristal Culler, and Kiyamara Butler; three nephews, Martin Culler, Jr., Leon A. Slay, and Jonathan L. Slay; a special cousin, Francine Graham; a host of cousins and friends.
