Mattie Mae Thompkins was born on April 17, 1935 to Frank "Candy" Thompkins and Amerson Watkins.
She confessed Christ at an early age at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a member.
Mattie Mae transitioned from this earthly life on June 27, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Amerson Thompkins; her sister, Carrie Dixon, and her brothers, Riley Watkins, James “JB” Thompkins, and James David Thompkins. She was also preceded in death by her loving companion, Dan Chaney.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her three sons: Leo Crowell, Jr. of Lisman, Alabama; James (Cynthia) Crowell of Ypsilanti, Michigan; Clarence (Belinda) Crowell of Lisman, Alabama; and one daughter, Claretha (Darrell) Ruffin of Columbus, Georgia; two sisters, Jessie Baker and Catherine Dodson, both of Detroit, Michigan; one brother, Frank Thompkins of Houston, Texas. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
