Brother James Keeton was born on March 10, 1937 to the late Brother Willie and Sister Rosa Keeton in Lisman, Alabama.
Brother James Keeton attended Choctaw County Training School in Lisman, Alabama. During his high school days, he was an avid basketball player, along with his brother, Robert Keeton. He was an animal lover, especially his dog, “Duke,” and loved to plant a garden and grow his own vegetables. James is best known for riding his bicycle around the Town of Lisman.
At an early age, James joined Greater First Baptist Church in Lisman, where he sang in the choir. James loved gospel singing and music. He remained an active member until his health began to fail. James retired from Sanders Lumber Company, Meridian, Mississippi.
Brother James Keeton was married to the late Sister Annie Lee Chapman, and to this union was born a lovely and devoted daughter, Cealvetta. He was a family man.
Brother James Keeton transitioned to his heavenly home on April 18, 2022 at the Sumter Health and Rehabilitation, LLC in York, Alabama.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted daughter, Cealvetta Keeton of New Haven, Connecticut; two grandchildren: Antwuane Darden and Antwaniece Robinson, both of New Haven, Connecticut; eight great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; one sister: Annie B. Melville of Lawrenceville, New Jersey; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
