George Minor, Jr.

George “Smokey” Minor Jr. was born on December 13, 1947 in Riderwood, AL to George Minor Sr. and Queen Ester Minor. He departed this life on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in Northport, AL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George Minor Sr. and Queen Ester Minor and his sister, Mattie Lampkin.

George confessed Christ early in life and joined Gilfield Missionary Baptist Church in Lisman, AL.

He was drafted into the United States Army and served three years.  He worked at Naheola Paper Mill for over 25 years in Pennington, AL, where he retired.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Mary Minor; his children: Barbara Nicholson, Kimberly Minor, Tiffany (Corey) Fryer, Moncita Minor, Shamane (Dorothy) Curtis, Jaekeia Minor, Aaliyah Blanks, Tracia (Frank) Reed, and Derrick (Alampulla) Lee. Eight grandchildren: Kurry, SeQuoia, Corey Jr. (Reagan), Audriah, Aijha, Anjoleah, Akyra, and Jonathan; four great grandchildren: Micah, Kylier, Jayden, and Karter; two loving and devoted siblings: Earnestine Crump and Benny (Rapunzel) Minor. 

He also leaves to cherish his memory: eight sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; a loving and devoted friend, Ozell Pringle.
