Betty was born August 24th, 1950 in Yantley, AL to the late Simmie and Hattie Bell Harris. She was the second child of nine siblings.
Betty confessed her life to Christ at an early age and joined the Gilfield Missionary Baptist Church. Dedicated to service, she joined the Order of Eastern Star having served as worthy matron. She joined in 1975.
Betty attended Choctaw Training School and graduated in the class of 1968. Furthering her education, she attended Selma University in Selma, Alabama.
In 1969, she united with Joel Horton. Two daughters were born to this union. They were married 18 years until Joel was called to his final resting place.
Betty was employed at M & M Daycare where she served as a child educator. She also loved picking the children up each morning on her daily bus route. Betty worked 22 years at M&M Daycare until her health declined.
Widowed, Betty met Issac Marsh, who loved her and her family unconditionally. They shared a loving life of 32 years. Together they created unforgettable and lasting memories until his Lord called him home.
Betty loved gardening and traveling with her grandchildren to new places. As a member of the Choctaw County Rescue Squad, she also enjoyed and showed dedication to being a first responder.
On September 18, 2020, in Meridian, MS, Betty departed her earthly body. She was preceded in death by her parents, Simmie and Hattie Bell Harris; three brothers, Dock, Simmie J & Timothy Harris; and two sisters, Millie Halsell & Queeneller Harris.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Two daughters: Angelia Horton (Ronald) and Cassandra Horton, both of Halsell, AL five grandchildren: Sharquita Horton, Tuscaloosa, AL. CJ Horton, Kiara Pickens, Kendra Welch, and Kentrell Horton, all of Halsell, AL, Four siblings; Simmie Lee Kelley, Meridian, MS, Dennis Harris, Orlando Florida; Leatha Ann (Jackie) DeLoach & Joanna (Darrin) Rodgers, both of Butler, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
