Dan William Knott, Jr.

On November 13, 1956, a son was born to Dan Knott, Sr. and Mildred Knott.  He was named Dan, Jr.

At an early age, he joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  “Jr.,” as he was affectionately known, grew up in Yantley, Alabama.  He attended Choctaw County High School, Class of 1975.

He married Barbara Brown and was truly blessed by God with a son and a daughter.  He was loved by many.  His character spoke for itself: love, joy, with a giving and kind heart to everyone. 

He was employed by Owens-Corning in Meridian, Mississippi for many years.  He became employed by Morrow Realty/Forest Manor Apartments as Maintenance Supervisor for 30+ years.    He was awarded Top Employee of Year Supervisor every year he worked.  In 1989, he met his life-long friend, Lois Ray.

He departed his earthly life on August 5, 2019 at Rush Foundation Hospital, Meridian, Mississippi.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Mildred Knott; brother-in-law, Otis Fryer, and stepbrother, Johnny Ruffin.

Left to cherish his precious memories: three (3) children that he took in as his own, Paris Brown Foster of Tyler, Texas; Karlio Brown of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Keith Ray of Butler, Alabama; one (1) sister, Patricia Fryer of Butler, Alabama; four (4) brothers, William Knott of Akron, Ohio; Andre (Rilinda) Knott of Akron, Ohio; Frederick Knott of Butler, Alabama and Toby Knott of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; three (3) stepbrothers, Rev. Willie James (Minister Carol) Ruffin; Louis Ruffin, Earl (Bertha) Ruffin; four (4) stepsisters, Versie, Mary, Glenda and Clarine Ruffin; two (2) grandsons, Naython Johnson and Ivan Foster; a devoted friend, Lois Ray of Butler, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Devoted friends close to his heart: Joe Benison, Bobby James Curtis, Jimmy Dubose, Leroy Jackson, Herbert Johnson, Rev. Andrew Walker, Johnny McClemore and Joseph Long.
