Nathan Curtis Obituary

Nathan Curtis was born on January 24, 1962 to the late Ollie James Sr. and Geraldine Curtis. Nathan was educated in the Choctaw County School System.

Nathan was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. During his younger years he loved to play baseball especially pitching for the Whynot Red Socks. Nathan loved his family and enjoyed spending time at his parents home with family and friends every chance he could get. Nathan was known in the community as a hardworking man especially with his yard and garden. His favorite saying was “I am the master of the ceremony slicker then goose grease.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Kerpatrick Ford.

On October 24, 2021, at Choctaw General in Butler, Alabama, Nathan transitioned from his earthly life to his eternal home.

Nathan leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Mistie Ford of Cleveland, Ohio; three sisters: Tina (Kenny) Mays of Butler, AL, Shelanda (Charles) Carlisle of Lisman AL, and Shenella (Bruce) Adams of Lisman, AL; five brothers: Ronnie (Bertha) Curtis of Whynot, MS, Johnny Curtis and Ollie (Avary) Curtis, Jr., both of Lisman AL, Archie (Tamika) Curtis of Montgomery, AL and Jerry (Winifred) Curtis of Birmingham, AL; five aunts: Carnell Keeton of York, AL, Dorothy Nelson of Washington Park, IL, Ella (John) Huff of Wilmington, DE, Christine Curtis of East St. Louis, IL and LeBertha Hunter of Belleville, IL; two uncles:  Sanders Ruffin of Meridian, MS; and Clifton Curtis of East St. Louis, IL, a devoted nephew:  Ollie James Curtis, III; a devoted friend: Michandra Pringle of Lisman, AL; two devoted cousins:  Maurice (Mary) Curtis of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Ivan Thomas of Biloxi, MS; his fishing and working buddy, Clinton “Fat” Thomas and his devoted “porch buddy”, Bobby Burton, and a host of other relatives and friends.
