Lola Roberts Obituary

Lola Jean was born December 21, 1942, to the late Bro. Judson and Sis. Velma Marsh in Choctaw County, Alabama. She was called from labor to enter into rest and receive her heavenly reward on Saturday, June 27, 2020, in Yantley, Alabama after an illness.

Lola Jean received her education at Choctaw County Training School. She started her faithful walk with the Lord at the Gilfield Missionary Baptist Church. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Bro. Joe Louis Roberts. She joined Shiloh C.M.E. Church, where served as a Missionary and Stewardess and continued to support the church until her health failed. To this union six children were born (one preceded them in death). She worked faithfully until she retired from James River (Georgia Pacific) in Pennington, AL. She was a member of Ezell Chapter No. 380 Order of the Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, Kenwyonia “Ken” Roberts; one brother, Quinton Marsh; one sister, Vivian Willis Bell, two brothers-in-law, Vergie Slay and Lurie Roberts; and two sisters-in-law, Catherine R. House and Audrey M. Roberts.

Lola Jean leaves to cherish his memories her Five children: Margaret Roberts (LeMarcus) Alford, Brenda Roberts, Terry Roberts, Al Joe (Aletha) Roberts, and Gary Roberts all of Yantley, AL; three brothers: Simmie Marsh, Travis (Loris) Marsh and Issac Marsh; four sisters: Dannie Graham, Hazel Dubose, Lezia D. “Sally” Marsh, and Ziphia Marsh; twelve grandchildren: two adopted by them, Terrance Thompson, Javaris Roberts, Amethyst Roberts, Sherita (Vincent) Vassall, Chadrick Jackson, Jamelia Jackson, Kendric Roberts, LaQuita Thompson, Breanna Thompson, Tony Roberts, Cordarious Pringle, and Jazmine Ruffin; eleven great-grandchildren, one adopted by them, Uniqua Bilbrew,; two relatives that they raised as their own: Simmie Marsh and Styron Marsh; One godchild: Tiffany Roberts; two brothers-in-law: Colie B. Roberts of Lisman, AL, and Willie Fred (Joyce) Roberts of Birmingham, AL; five sisters-in-law: Minnie and Anna J. Roberts and Hattie B. Roberts all of Lisman, AL, Estella and Maggie Roberts of Marietta, GA; devoted friends: Geraldine Hardge, Ola Keeton, Mary Pogue, Gertrude Larkin, and the late Emma President; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
