Edna (Craig) McRae

Edna Mae Craig McRae was born August 24, 1942, to the late Lewis E. Craig and Monzellar G. Craig, who preceded her in death.

She spent over 30 years with the Choctaw County Board of Education as a bus driver, custodian, and cafeteria worker.  She was also a beautician and certified nursing assistant.

Edna was a beautiful person who always spoke her mind.

She was passionate about cooking, fishing, and quilting.  She was also known near and far for her delicious mouth-watering cakes and home cooked meals.  Most notably, she was the inspiration behind the world-renowned, Mama's BackWoods BBQ Sauce.  

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Edward McRae; three sons: Gregory Lewis McRae, Dominic Terrell McRae, and Lee Andrew McRae; three brothers: Marvell Craig, John Henry Craig, and Joe Craig; two sisters:  Mabel Holcombe and Sylvia Craig Mouton.

She leaves to cherish one daughter, Kenya R. McRae of Huntsville, AL; one grandson, whom she reared, Joshua I. McRae of Huntsville, AL; one step-daughter, Annie (Donnie) Berry of Racine, WI; one sister, Sarah Edwards of Yantley, AL; one brother, Walter E. Craig (Diane) Fayetteville, GA; two daughters-in-law: Jackie V. McRae of Racine, WI and Faye McRae of Lafayette, LA; five sisters-in-law: Daisy Mae McRae of New Orleans, LA and Daisy Mae (Otis) Staffold of Englewood, CA; Verganell Craig of Meridian, MS, Lucille Craig of Yantley, AL, and Patricia A. Dock of Mobile, AL; two brothers-in-law: Kenneth Mouton of Lafayette, LA and Thomas Holcombe of Yantley, AL.  She was a loving grandmother with fourteen (14) grandchildren, eighteen (18) great-grandchildren; Wanda Ridgeway, a very dear and special friend, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
