Welcome to the memorial page for

Vernice (Walker) Jones

March 26, 1927 ~ December 21, 2016 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Vernice Walker was born in Yarbo, Alabama on March 26, 1927.  She was raised by a woman, whose name was Viola and her sister, Etta.

Sister Jones and her adopted sister, Elease Presswood, were raised together in the small community of Riderwood, Alabama.  There she attended Choctaw County Training School and later attended and graduated from Mobile County Training School in Mobile, Alabama.

As a young adult, Vernice relocated to Chicago, Illinois.  There she married, but later returned to her home in Alabama as a single woman.  After returning to her home in Alabama, she begin to study the bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She dedicated her life to Jehovah on September 7, 1963 in Rose Bowl, California by water baptism.  On September 1, 1992, she began her full time pioneering service while living in Alabama and displayed exceptional qualities in Jehovah’s service.  Preaching whole soul, she spent many long hours in full time pioneering service to her heavenly father Jehovah.  Always preaching with enthusiasm to everyone she met.  She stood up for the truth, even when she became an infirmed pioneer.  Her bible and bible literature always nearby, as she talked about her years of devoted service to Jehovah, always with a gleam in her eyes.

Sister Vernice Jones leaves to cherish her memory: her adopted sister, Elease Presswood, as well as, a host of many relatives and friends, and also brothers and sisters worldwide within Jehovah’s Organization.
