Lula V. (Powe) Rogers

Mother Lula Voncille Powe-Rogers, transitioned to glory on September 16, 2017, with her family by her side at Erlanger Medical Center.

Lula was born October 4, 1950, in Gilbertown, Alabama to the late Daniel and Ella Mae Powe.  She left home at an early age to attend college in Dothan, Alabama where she received certification as an accountant.  She later moved to Astoria, Oregon and worked as a certified nursing assistant.  After returning home, she met and married Eddie E. Rogers and she continued to work as a nursing assistant at Willow Trace Living Center in Butler, Alabama.

Throughout her life, Mother Rogers taught, inspired and encouraged others to live for the Lord.  Her gifts and talents could be seen in her sewing and carpentry.  Lula, faced many test and trails in life; yet, she remained steadfast in her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ until her death.

Mother Lula Rogers was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Ella Mae Powe; husband, Eddie E. Rogers; sisters, Beluah Baker and Nora Hampton; brother, Lorenzo Powe and sister-in-law, Louvenia Powe.

Mother Lula V. Powe-Rogers leaves to cherish her memories one daughter; Kimberly Mitchell, son, Gregory Mitchell; three grandchildren, Noah, Zion and Ezra Mitchell all of Jackson, MS; four brothers, Cecil Powe, Sr., Larry (Andrea) Powe of Silas, AL, Ronnie (Iris) Powe, Ray Charles (Elaine) Powe both of Chattanooga, TN; one adopted sister, Julia (James) Whigham of Shubuta, MS and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
